Introducing The McLoughlin Medical Group

We’re proud to announce the launch of a new website and brand identity for The McLoughlin Medical Group, an independent Liverpool-based practice led by Dr Terence McLoughlin, a Senior NHS Consultant in Emergency Medicine. From the logo and visual identity through to the site itself, we worked with the team to bring the two distinct sides of the practice (medicolegal expertise and private consultant care) together under one polished, credible online home.

About the client

The McLoughlin Medical Group accepts instructions from solicitors, coroners, and private patients across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Their work spans expert witness reports, clinical negligence opinions, complex injury assessment, capacity evaluations, and same-week private consultations with on-site diagnostics. It’s a serious practice for serious cases, and the brief was for a website that reflects that without sounding clinical or cold.

The brief

The team came to us wanting a site that signals senior clinical authority without falling into the templated, stock-photo look of so many medicolegal websites. It needed to do three things at once: communicate the depth of Dr McLoughlin’s expertise, make it easy for instructing solicitors to commission work quickly, and feel calm and reassuring for private patients arriving in difficult circumstances. Before any of that, the practice also needed a proper identity to wrap the whole thing in: logo, palette, typography, the lot.

Branding and identity

Before a single page was wireframed, we set out to give the practice a distinctive visual identity. The result is built around a stacked “TMMG” monogram: initials set in a classical serif, arranged in a tight two-by-two grid that reads as both a wordmark and a crest. It’s quiet, confident, and unmistakably medical without leaning on the usual stethoscope-and-caduceus clichés.

The full horizontal lockup pairs the monogram with “The McLoughlin Medical Group” set in the same serif, with “Medical Group” picked out in a softer grey to give the wordmark a clean two-tier hierarchy. A deep navy and crisp white form the palette: restrained, authoritative, and a long way from generic NHS blue. That same palette then anchors the website’s interface end-to-end.

Design approach

We anchored the design around a Liverpool skyline hero, a quiet nod to where the practice is based, and a visual cue that this is a UK-rooted, locally accountable operation. The palette is muted and considered, with plenty of white space, restrained accent colours, and typography chosen for readability rather than flourish. The opening line, “The foundation of robust legal opinion lies in senior clinical judgement,” sets the tone for the whole site: confident, evidence-led, and unfussy.

Built for two audiences

Behind the scenes, the navigation and content hierarchy split cleanly between two visitor journeys. Medicolegal instructing parties get a clear route through credentials, areas of expertise, and a frictionless way to commission a report. Private patients get reassurance, availability, and a simple path to booking. Each pathway is served on its own terms, but the overall site stays cohesive thanks to a shared design language and consistent voice.
